It’s October – Give Your Office A Flu Shot

Every fall I have the same conversation with facility managers. The flu starts making its way through the office, one person brings it in, and a week later half the floor is out or dragging. Most people treat that like weather, something that just happens. But it doesn’t have to.

Just like your employees get flu shots around this time of year, you can give your whole office building its own “flu shot” with help from your cleaning company. But a normal daily cleaning isn’t going to do that by itself.

See, the flu doesn’t spread from the middle of the floor where most cleaners focus. It spreads from the surfaces hands land on all day: door handles, light switches, the badge reader at the front, elevator buttons, the break room. In a warehouse, the locker rooms and restrooms where three hundred people pass through. Those are the highest-traffic, lowest-attention spots in the whole building, and a crew focused on making the carpet look good will walk right past every one of them.

So we come in on a Saturday, when nobody’s there to work around, and run electrostatic disinfection across every one of those touchpoints. The sprayer charges the disinfectant so it wraps all the way around what it lands on, instead of just the surface a rag would wipe. Commodes, urinals, doors, doorknobs, switches, locker rooms, everywhere people touch. It’s the same COVID-grade touchpoint spraying the big facilities rely on, scaled to your building.

You’re already telling your people to get their flu shot. This is the same idea for the place they spend forty hours a week in.

If you want to know what that would look like for your facility heading into the season, let’s set up a walkthrough.
